Ragnarok & Rough Riders

I refined my design on the armor skirts for the Ragnarok and I'm pleased with how they came out...

And, in case I get tired of the battle damage look, they are magnetized...

I have completed 3 of my mechanized rough riders. As I indicated in a previous post, the hunting lance is represented here by a high-powered spear gun. A fellow blogger suggested this idea and I forgot who...so thanks, whoever you are.

This is my biker version of Mogul Kahn...

Received two more riders today in the mail so they will be armed with meltas and my squad will be complete.

Has anyone ever fielded a full 10-rider squad of these? How do they fare on the battlefield?

C & C is always appreciated.

The war goes on,
Col. Hessler

Nice. I really like the sides to your Ragnarok; I have a couple under way at the moment so I will have to try that. I probably won't magnetise them, though...

Armoured skirts look great, like the battle damage gives them a real world look.
I personally run a 5 man squad of Roughriders with no special weapons just lances mainly just to distract and slow down opponents units. I have heard that if you are running meltas you may want another 5 riders to add some ablative troops to the unit and make sure the meltas get where they need to go.

Looking good - The skirts on the Ragnarok really brings the model home for me, it's perfect! I'm a huge fan of mechanized Rough Riders, and the scout bikes are a nice compromise size-wise for the guard. I went with dirtbikes from Ramshackle games for the sleeker look, but your models are definitely cool! Can't wait to see 'em painted up - keep up the great work!

I used RRs a good bit under the old codex, and plan to use them with my traitors in the new one.

I've had pretty good success with them. They help keep the enemy honest, but are definitely a one-shot unit. But it's a great shot! Take out a squad of marines/etc. with them, and even if they die immediately afterwards they have done their job and paid for themselves. If you bunch in the middle, some near the edges could also be great to react to Outflankers, or at least scare them away from that edge. And don't forget Move Move Move - help with those Fleet moves!

That is exactly what I was thinking of for the skirts. Beautifully done.

Those armored skirts look great and with a few rivets will be perfect. Well done!

Still like the spear gun, and will use that idea when I eventually get around to making my RR.
