Sentinel Stand In 2

Work continues on this protoype. I have added a tail and fin and tried a 1st attempt at some proper legs...

At first I liked it but it soon became obvious that the rotors would have to be lengthened in order to maintain a consistent look. So I scrapped the legs (damn...) and went with this instead:

I scrounged a landing foot from my Valkyrie kit and it seems to be the winner. I like it most because it helps maintain a nice, compact look...which is what I wanted from the start.

This does not complete my work, I am still considering how to address the rotors. I am looking to straighten them out a bit or maybe build new ones from scratch.

Please feel free to comment and leave thoughts, your feedback is much appreciated.

The war goes on,

I like the final design considerably better than your previous two. I'm also not sure that the rotors need extending. They'd look better longer, but, depending upon how many sentinels you need to convert, it could be a lot easier to leave them as is--and they'd still look decent.

Very nice - the tail boom definitely helps the overall 'helicopter feel'. Good stuff!

I'd straighten the propeller srand and possibly a windshield because the propellar arm looks too ORKY =(

The second pair of landing skids are much better mate. It's definitely getting there, any thoughts on the weapon systems?

@Corbane- I'll probably do 2 squads of 3. one squad will be 2 lascannon, 1 multi-laser. The other will be 2 multi-laser, 1 lascannon. The idea is to have the ability to enagage both armor and infantry. I haven't decided on the final configurations yet, suggestions are welcome.

Very nice. I definitely feel the propeller arm could do with some straightening. If he were hovering, the pilot looks like he would be staring straight at the sky...

Even better (in my opinion) would be to replace the rotors with hover engines (either the nurgle style propeller ones or the tau-style jet engines).

@Iktovian- That's a thought, only these are just sentinels. In game terms I don't know how you justify something having jet engines and still just hovering...and there's also the matter of assaults. I won't rule it out though.

I might have to choose form over function ;)

Great idea and execution, and seems relatively simple to boot. While I agree the arm would look better if straighter, it's good enough as is.

The Tau-like jet engines with their slower speed might be more in line with a Sentinel I think rather than the rotors. Rotors @ a glance could make people more inclined to think it functions like a jet bike.

I like the tubing/landing skids myself. Makes it kind look like the US Army's 'Little Bird' helos.

A very cool conversion all the way around!
