A Tank Builders Dilema...Sponsons?

I have seen evil and it's name is Forge World resin...without a doubt, the most frustrating modeling experience I have had. The Mars Alpha pattern Vanquisher fought me every step of the way but I have prevailed.

The Mars Alpha hull comes with the heavy bolter built in...so it stays there. The question now becomes: Since I already have some limited anti-personnel firepower, should I add sponsons with more bolters? Or should I leave the sponsons off altogether?

Here's some pics...

Below we see my answer to the turret being to small for the hull...layers of masking tape held in place by a coating of zap-a-gap...perfect fit.

Thanks in advance for your input.

The war goes on,
Hessler

Excellent vanquisher mate, love the masking tape tip, what's zap-a-gap?

I'd go with heavy bolter sponsors, with the hull, you've got 4.5 hits a turn and with pasky, that's 6.

By the time it's vanquisher cannon gets knocked out, it'll have done it's main job and then be ready to handle any infantry that get up close.

Zap-a-gap is one of a hundred different brands/formulations of glue, more commonly known as super glue.

I pretty much agree with Col. Corbane on this one so, Hvy Bolters get my vote. I'm in the process of assembling my vanquisher as I write this and had the same thoughts as you, and it was either going to be Hvy Bolters or nothing. Although I would prefer the Hull mounted lascannon to give it an extra chance at killing armour.

I'd go for the heavy bolters man. Since the hull already has a heavy bolter I would go for the specialisation and deck it fully out with heavy bolters and pose a threat to troops.

Very nice. I say nothing - save the points for another tank... :D

@Corbane,DJ Batman- That is what I figured, I have always tried to make sure that all my models are efficient on the battlefield.

@Argos- I am in agreement with the statement on the lascannon. I would have preffered it, but I just didn't want to tear up that beautiful resin hull.

@Iktovian- I must admit, that was my first thought. In most smaller battles, however, this might be my only heavy support choice so it must be a effective as possible.

Cheers to to everyone for the input. That's why I love this blogging group we have.

Magnetize the sponson mount. Leave it off for the Apoc battles, have your choice for the smaller ones.

You want sponsons. And you need heavy bolters. Whenever your army gets a chance at extra shots they should take it.

I also have to vote for magnetizing the sponsons. Give yourself the option to choose.
